Sitka Spruce Tonewood
Sitka Spruce is a very close-grained wood that produces a rich, vibrant tone. It has a creamy white to light brown color and is recognized for it's consistent quality as well as its straight uniform grain, durability and tensile strength. These attributes make Sitka Spruce an ideal wood for soundboards. A solid Sitka Spruce top goes well with Mahogany laminate back and sides.
Solid and Laminate Construction
Did you know that the soundboard of the ukulele transmits most of the sound while the back and sides reflect most of the sounds? Since solid woods vibrate more freely than laminates they transmit a better sound quality. Since the back and sides act more like a reflector, they can be laminates without any negligible loss of
sound quality. Laminate backs and sides may even be better than some solid woods in reflecting sound because the solid woods may absorb more of the sound.

All the ukuleles in the Solid Top Series are made from a special Mahogany laminate especially designed for ukuleles. This is not the cheap plywood with scrap wood glued in the middle. Their durability makes them an excellent choice allowing for the required thinness to produce a louder sound and are not vulnerable to grain
