The Makai LK-80W Soprano ukulele has a solid Cedar top and Willow laminate back and sides to produce a rich sound quality you would expect at an affordable price! It is one of our more popular ukuleles in this series and is much better than most entry-level soprano ukuleles.

The Makai LK-80W is most suited to strumming and chord type playing where most people start. The Makai LK-80W is easy to hold which makes it the perfect size for children and is easy to carry and store. Its size is ideal for easier fretting of big stretches.

Makai LK-80W Soprano features:

Cedar is a light to reddish soft wood used primarily for soundboards. Willow looks great and has unique grain patterns making no two ukuleles look the same. The grain patterns mimic the sand waves found on a beach. The Makai LK-80W has a warm rich tone that is evenly distributed, rather than concentrated on the highs and lows. With its solid Cedar top and Willow laminate back and sides, the Makai LK-80W lends visual warmth that many players find attractive.

Solid woods transmit sound better because they vibrate more freely than laminate woods which are used on less expensive ukuleles. Since the back and sides act more like a reflector, they can be laminates without any negligible loss of sound quality. Laminate sides and backs may even be better than some solid woods in reflecting sound because the solid woods may absorb more of the sound. Obviously, the shape of the ukulele and wood used contribute to the overall tonal quality. The LK-80W having a solid top and laminate back and sides produces brilliant tonal qualities and makes the ukulele less expensive.

The Makai LK-80W has a highly polished finish and lightweight geared tuners for easy tuning. A Solid Cedar top is hard to beat in tone.
