These are real ukuleles made by accomplished luthiers who understand that instrument making is an art as well as a craft! In Hawaii the word Makai means near the sea.
The Makai ukuleles were showcased at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Show in 2012 and is considered one of the best quality ukuleles for sale. Each Makai ukulele is designed and factory inspected by a qualified technician for smooth fret ends, precision normal action and resonant sound quality. Makai ukuleles offer a lot for their price. You can almost hear the ocean breeze in the palm trees when you play a Makai ukulele! Professional Setup Service
By popular demand we have introduced a new service for those that want the added insurance that the Makai ukulele you purchase is properly setup. We contracted with an independent luthier that will check for proper intonation, action, buzzing sounds and smooth fret ends to name a few.
Normally a service this detailed would cost around $30.00, but we will do the service setup for $8.50. In addition, if there are any special instructions or concerns you want the luthier to pay particular attention to, just email it to us and we will pass it on to the luthiers exactly as written. Please keep in mind that the luthier is quite busy, so expect a 3-day turn around before the item gets shipped.
We made this a separate service so you pay only for what you want. Other websites may include a similar service and charge $15.00 or more, even if the service may not be warranted. We do our best to make sure every Makai ukulele we ship has smooth fret ends, normal action and the is no buzzing sounds or other annoyances. However, some customers ordering the higher priced models may want this additional service.
The luthier we contracted with is an independent owner, with years of experience with all the top ukulele brands. Not only does he setup ukuleles, but just about all stringed instruments. Being an independent contractor he has no bias when it comes to stringed instruments so you can rest assured you are getting a quality instrument at hopefully a real good price!
You can find this option at the bottom of each page in our Add to Cart section.
